The idea behind the Afterburner was to create an all-rounder that has the glide and flow of a fish with control closer to that of a short board, and it does this very well.
To achieve its goals the board retains a width that is wider than your average thruster however not as full bodied as a traditional fish. The bottom of the board is a single into deep, double concave which adds grip and control to what I imagine would otherwise be an extremely loose design. It's the fine balance of different design concepts that really give this board the ability to work well in almost all beach break conditions.
Paddling into waves is a breeze, with its wide point further towards the nose it glides across the surface with little resistance. You can spin and launch into waves with minimal effort and once on the wave the deep double concave through the tail gives it drive.Overall the Webber Afterburner is a brilliant all round board that handles well in beach breaks up to about 6 foot. The Afterburner is a highly recommended addition to any quiver.
